A teenager who no longer confides in their parents tells you nothing on its own — pulling away is a developmental task and belongs to the age. What matters is whether they have closed off only to you, or to everything. If they have friends, their own things, and open up occasionally, that is ordinary. If the friends and the things they used to enjoy have gone too, this is not puberty.
Adolescence closes the door towards parents and opens it towards peers. When both close, this is not becoming independent — it is that there is no energy left for contact. Giving more space does not help then; there is space enough already. What is missing is someone who stays nearby without asking questions.
The questionnaire is filled in by the young person themselves and asks about their experience, not about the behaviour you see. That is the difference: a great deal of what looks like laziness or rudeness at home looks entirely different from the inside.
